A monk asked, “When I wish to become a Buddha – what then?”
Joshu said, “You have set yourself quite a task, haven’t you?”
The monk said, “When there is no effort – what then?”
Joshu said, “Then you are a Buddha already.”
Sit in a quiet, comfortable and pleasant place.
Observe your surroundings through seeing and hearing.
Understand deeply that there is no need to observe.
Understand more deeply that there is also no need to stop observing.
Understand even more deeply that there is even no need to understand this.
You are already what you are.
The world is already as it is.
That is all.
