Rachel
I want to be non-judgemental and just aware. How can I achieve that?
Jonathan
Hi Rachel,
Maybe the first judgement to get rid of is that:
being non-judgemental of thoughts that come to mind and just being aware
is preferable.
When you understand this is impossible, even this judgement, or preference, dissolves, leaving you free.
You see, what happens, happens; Nothing else ever happens:
It is not you that controls whether your mind is judgemental or not each moment.
It is clearly not you that controls whether or not you are aware or unaware each moment
If you controlled these, you would obviously be non-judgemental and aware all the time, since that seems to be what you want. But since these vary all the time, it seems that it is not you that controls all this.
This world, including your body and mind, work the way they work. There is no real alternative, since that is what actually happens. Reality always wins. This in itself is not a source of tension or stress. But the moment you hold an opinion as to how things should be, you are in potential trouble, since the real world, including your body and mind, does not necessarily comply with your every desire.
As you realize this deeply, as your preference for even non-judgmentality and awareness dissolves, life become easier and happier. No stress.
Enjoy your life,
Jonathan
