There are many misunderstandings about this.
The Buddha is reputed to have said that “I deal with stress and the ending of stress.” Stress is the desire for a reality different from what it is. But it never is. What is, is. There is never anything else. As you become more realistic, as you learn to distinguish clearly between reality (what is happening), and what you think (your natural creativity), you are less troubled by problems that stem not from reality but from the way you think.
Usually with the help of a teacher, with meditation practice and by spending time with like-minded friends, this differentiation between the real and you mental creations may stabilize. A high level of stabilization is sometimes call enlightenment (as in “throwing light on…”).
I invite you to start immediately. There is no point in unnecessary suffering for even one day.
