While meditating, the sound of my breath distracts me from focussing on the breath itself

Share this:

Questioner:

While meditating, the sound of my breath distracts me from focusing on the breath itself. What should I do?

Jonathan:

Focus on both:

  1. the sensation of the breath, and
  2. the sound produced by it

Then there is no distraction.

You see, all distractions exist only as arbitrary definitions. You may see a distraction as anything you are not focussed on. But if you focus on everything, there are no distractions left and nowhere for them to occur.

What happens if you sit comfortably, naturally present to everything that happens. Then nothing can distract you. There is nothing else. This is natural mediation, the end-point of all meditations.

Enjoy your meditation and the peace and happiness it can bring.
Enjoy your life.
