Questioner
There are so many meditation methods, but which one suits me?
Jonathan
I understand your concern. There are indeed many people offering many meditation methods. However, ultimately, meditation is simply resting in your own nature, in natural awareness. There is nothing special to do so nothing to suit or not suit you.
It is a good idea to make some quiet time every day, in a quiet, pleasant place, at a time when you feel there is nothing else specifically demanding your attention. Then, just sitting quietly, you may become naturally aware of reality, that is, everything – except for what you think, which reflects your own creativity.
- Listen to the sounds.
- Watch whatever you see, if your eyes are open. If closed, watch whatever appears with closed eyes, shapes, colors, forms that appear and dissolve.
- Observe your bodily sensations including your breath as it comes in and goes out.
- Notice your mental activity – your ever changing thoughts and emotions.
This includes most essentials of meditation. There is nothing special that you need to do. You will see that it naturally adapts to your particular way of being.
