Letting your expectations adapt themselves to reality is more successful than demanding that reality adjust itself to your expectations.
As you become used to the inevitable gaps between what you want and what is, not as problems but simply the way things are, life is easier. The gaps do not indicate that something is wrong, rather that your expectations are not adequately tuned to reality. They never are, as you have no way of knowing the future. You appreciate that any comparison of reality with anything else is impossible. You cannot compare reality, what is, with anything else because there is nothing else to compare it with.
Life is easier and more comfortable
