How can I stop worrying about what other people think of me?

Share this:

The Buddha is said to have commented that just as a mountain is unaffected by winds and rain, so a wise person is unaffected by praise and criticism.

You are exactly who you are. There is no other possibility, even though it may seem you have a choice. So you have already achieved being you. You are completely safe in that. The popular illusion that you can be different from what or who you actually are, can create tension and stress. As the illusion dissolves, so does the stress. Consider this carefully:

Can you actually be taller than you are at this moment?
Can you be kinder or less kind than you are, now?
Can you be less intelligent, or more intelligent, than you actually are, right now?

You see. In actuality, each moment, you are always you, exactly as you are. What other people think you should be are just their opinions. Let them worry about that.

Use your valuable energy to enjoy life.
