Actually you can.
But only from the conditioned, non-enlightened viewpoint. This is because enlightenment exists only from the conditioned point of view.
Within the unconditioned, enlightened mind there is neither enlightenment nor non-enlightenment nor any way of distinguishing one from the other. The thought that creates this idea of enlightenment clearly appears and passes just like all phenomena, but leaves no trace. The problem of how to achieve enlightenment is no longer apparent since there is nothing whatever to achieve or to fail to achieve.
There is only clear, open space, what is left when there is nothing to think about. Absolute freedom and absence of stress.
This state is not different from enlightenment.
